*Acueductos continues work to repair a breakdown in Bayamón* Repairs are expected to be completed tomorrow Friday. (Tuesday, June 18, 2026 – Bayamón, PR) – The Aqueduct and Seawater Authority (AAA) is advancing work to repair an identified malfunction on a 48-inch transmission line located in Bayamón, which leads water to the Finca Rosso 2 pumping station, according to its executive president, engineer Luis R. González Delgado. González Delgado explained that the situation was detected last Wednesday, during the system recovery process after the repair of the 72 inch Superacueducto line.As part of the operational monitoring, personnel of the Authority observed that the Finca Rosso 2 bomb station was not recovering its operating levels as expected, so an exploratory investigation through the pipeline was initiated to identify the cause. “Our staff carried out inspections along the line using drone technology, which allowed us to locate an outlet in a section that runs near the trawling field where the Superaqueducto accident occurred last week.Once the affected point was identified, the brigades worked restlessly for hours of the night and dawn to open access to the area and start excavation work,” he explained. The AAA that the excavation process that was carried out during today was already completed and that operational adjustments and valve closures are currently being made to leave the pipeline out of service and without water, allowing the repairs to be carried out dry and safely for workers. Once the drainage is completed, AAA brigades along with specialized personnel from the ENDIX Group company will start repairing the affected section. Because these work will be carried out, customers who are supplemented through the Superacueducto system in sectors of Guaynabo, Caguas, Gurabo, Juncos, San Lorenzo and Aguas Buenas will continue to experience interruptions or low pressures in the drinking water service, as the total recovery of the system has not been able to complete while this failure remains active. “We know that many families continue to wait for the full recovery of the service and we understand the frustration this generates in our people. Our teams continue to work with the urgency that this requires and without rest to complete this repair as soon as possible and operational stability to the system,” he added. The Authority estimates that the repair work can be completed during the day tomorrow Friday, as this is a less complex intervention than the one recently carried out on the 72-inch Superacueduct line. As work continues, the AAAins coordination with Puerto Rico government agencies and affected municipalities to support mitigation efforts and distribution of clean drinking water to affected communities. The AAA will continue to provide official updates on the progress of the work through its communication channels. ###
